I'm Here!

A HUGE thanks to my sis-in-law, Erin, for her (always) brilliant comment to make my pics smaller before uploading them. (duh.) It took me a while to figure it out, but MY GOODNESS it's so much faster now. So, here's some recent kid pics. No cohesive theme or anything funny...just our household over the last few weeks:

Max LOVES reading. Crazy - he'll be quite in his room for up to 15 minutes (!) just doing this. He likes to sit in this chair in his room or the recliner in the living room to "rock-rock" and read books.

We went to a park a couple weeks ago. He still LOVES balls...mostly "be-be-ball" (basketball).

Jake has been practicing writing his name at school. Funny - at home he doesn't want anything to do with writing or even coloring, but he comes home from school every day with papers from practicing the letter of the week. Glad Mrs. Parker (or maybe just watching the other kids) motivates him! So I was surprised when he wanted to do this on a magna doodle...

all by himself - I asked what letters it spelled. Thought that third letter was supposed to be an "a" but then he read out "J-K-Q-E." Ha. At least he knows what he wrote...

I'm learning to encourage practice without correcting too much. My instinct is to correct, but he gets discouraged so easily and hates making any mistakes. At this early stage of writing as his motivation and self-confidence are so small, I'm trying to praise any effort. We'll correct soon enough...

New Pictures on Right

I've been wanting to do this for a long time. So not my idea - copied from Missy at It's Almost Naptime - really fun blog. I loved the way she introduced each of them...

And I have a few other things I've been wanting to blog about, just haven't gotten to it. I read (again, on someone else's blog) that they don't blog on days when they don't spend time with the Lord...ouch. So, I've been trying to set my priorities straight. I could blog/read others' blogs all day if I had the time! Also, there has been a lot going on lately...more about that later.

Andy and I had a date tonight - Max with Grandma/Grandpa, Jake with Grammy/Grandpa Bob. We ate at Chipotle (love that place but don't go very often because it's not super kid-friendly, i.e. no playground) and saw the Dark Knight. Good movie - not the kind that I love, but it was extremely well-done. We talked about it all the way home.

And we're going to Galveston/Houston for a kind of "stay-cation." We'll do a little beach, Schlitterbahn, crabbing (Andy is SO excited about that) and then do some things in Houston that we never have time for on our weekend trips there. Should be fun. I'll post when we get back!

New Title and Banner

So, some blogging friends/family (thank you Bloggertons! :)) turned me on to http://www.scrapblog.com/. It's the coolest thing and free! I'm still waiting for there to be some catch...but I couldn't find any! Anyway, I played around and made my new banner. Then I settled on this silly title. It made me smile. And I couldn't come up with anything beautiful or inspiring. So there.

Ideas?

Have any of you sweet readers noticed that I can't decide on a good blog title? I know the "k" thing is a little cheesy... I can't come up with anything good. Comment with any ideas you have. Otherwise I'll just keep changing out these silly k-k things. :)

Getting Up With the Times

As I was having fun reading some friends' blogs, Andy, looking over my shoulder said, "You should get a blog. You'd have fun." I thought so too. Not really sure how to do this, but we'll try. I think the most fun will be sharing pictures of our little squirts. :)
