Thoughts from the Pot

Jake came running from the bathroom yesterday with his pants around his ankles yelling, "Mom! Pee starts with P!!!" :)

New Title and Banner

So, some blogging friends/family (thank you Bloggertons! :)) turned me on to http://www.scrapblog.com/. It's the coolest thing and free! I'm still waiting for there to be some catch...but I couldn't find any! Anyway, I played around and made my new banner. Then I settled on this silly title. It made me smile. And I couldn't come up with anything beautiful or inspiring. So there.

Good and Perfect Gift

This day was such a gift from God. We went to a nearby park and the weather was BEAUTIFUL! We fed ducks, had a picnic lunch, played on the playground and stayed a really long time. I layed out a blanket for me and Max near the playground to keep an eye on Jaker. I read my Parenting magazine (so I was enojying myself too!) and Max played and ate snacks. So nice...
CHUNKING it!
He wanted them to get close so badly.

A stick!

He loves the swing -- just giggled the whole time! Check out that hair. :)

and those teeth!

he loves this climbing rock

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." James 1:17

He gives us good gifts ALL the time. Check out this blog entry on thankfulness:

It inspired me...Thank you Lord!

Update: Little Scooter

A lot has changed since my last post about Max's crawling (or lack thereof). I guess I need to be careful of what I pray for! He's into everything! (thank you Lord!) He's now scooting everywhere on his belly (army crawl) or on his bottom, usually in pursuit of a ball that keeps rolling farther away or something he shouldn't be into. As I type, he has worked his way out of my room across the hall and into Jake's room with all the toys. Babies change so fast! Today the ECI ladies came out and we determined that they'll work with him every other week for 30 minutes. The occupational therapist said that if they had evaluated him based on what he's doing today, he wouldn't qualify for services (b/c he's not delayed enough)! So all good news. Some of our goals for the ECI services are 1) him being able to crawl on his knees, 2) pull up to a standing position and 3) get to a sitting position alone. Andy said to let the ECI ladies know that we want him drafted by the NBA by age 20...

Now he's WAY down the hall almost to the bathroom! I'll post pictures of the little scooter soon. Thank you for your love and prayers!

Family Portraits

A couple weeks ago we had family pics taken. (Scroll down to the bottom of page to see. I couldn't figure out how to put the slideshow in my post. Sheila...? :) ) Through a friend (thank you Christi!) we found out about this photographer who takes shots for 20 minutes for $35 and in a few weeks gives you the whole CD of photos! It was a fundraiser for for AMAMOM (Allen, McKinney Area Mothers of Multiples) so I guess they do it once a year (?). We met them at a pretty park in Frisco and they did a great job. What a good idea! More photographers should do this. I love getting the whole CD (of good shots and not-so-good) to edit and print as I like! Her website: http://www.TKNPhotography.com

Ideas?

Have any of you sweet readers noticed that I can't decide on a good blog title? I know the "k" thing is a little cheesy... I can't come up with anything good. Comment with any ideas you have. Otherwise I'll just keep changing out these silly k-k things. :)

Remembering...

I have lots of new pictures I've been wanting to add, but I didn't have time to work on it today. So these are some old pictures of Jaker...fun to remember.

Jake at 7 months
1st haircut -- 9 1/2 months!
10 1/2 months - he was having so much fun that day with TWO balls!
look at that tan...daddy's complexion
12 1/2 months

Happy on his Little Bottom

This is a little hard to write, but I wanted to because I think it's important. In reading others’ blogs, the more honest folks are with their struggles, the more it encourages me. It’s cathartic for me to write and I hope it will encourage others. (Gosh, sounds like I’m about to confess major sin or something…well, not really.)

Some of you know that our little Max is almost 11 months old and not crawling, pulling up, getting to a sitting position alone, etc. This “developmental delay” (hate those terms) has been really hard on me. For whatever reason, he’s just not as interested in those gross motor skills. He has a very content personality and, for the most part, he’s pretty happy playing on his little bottom. So, I’ve been worrying. I tend to carry guilt (did I not give enough tummy time?) and it’s so easy to fall into the comparing trap – I know moms can relate. BUT I want the Lord to be glorified. A lot of it boils down to my pride – ugh – that’s the hard part to say. I want to see what the Lord does through this; maybe help me trust Him more and not rely on my super-mommy pride. What else Lord?

Anyway, a couple weeks ago I looked into Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) services in our area. We’ve had a couple visits with really sweet ladies, and after yesterday's assessment, they determined that he does qualify for services (babies must be 2 months behind developmentally in any of 5 areas: cognitive, physical, emotional, etc.). In a couple weeks we’ll have another appointment to determine how often they’ll come and our goals, etc. It seems like it’ll be great.

It’s just hard admitting the need for help. But I thank God for it AND for our incredibly sweet Max. He’s the happiest, sweetest baby. I can’t wait to see more of his amiable personality as he grows. My dad says he’s “positive Max.” Lord, what a blessing.

I know I’ll look back on this and smile (and roll my eyes at my silliness) and hopefully have learned something. I know that God is on His throne and is so sovereign. He’s so good to help us through things (even minor things), gently teaching us the way to be, bringing good to us and glorifying Himself all along! Father, thank you for caring for your children so much! Such a good God…
